It’s important to constantly find new and innovative ways to fight identity fraud and Europ Assistance SA now offers as part of its ID Assist product a policy to protect consumers from the financial burdens that may follow the unauthorized use of personal information.
ID Assist Replacement Cover ensures that costs related to the replacement of bank cards, retail cards, medical aid card, ID document, passport, drivers license etc. are covered. If a passport or driving license is lost or stolen during the period of insurance, policy holders will be reimbursed for charges/fees paid for the issue of replacements, including the issue of emergency replacements whilst abroad.
The ID Assist Disbursement Cover which applies only if ID theft occurs within the borders of South Africa can cover up to R 50, 000 p.a. for loss of income for any unpaid leave relating to ID Theft, costs incurred to report the ID Theft to the police, credit agencies, financial service providers, other creditors, debt collection agencies, regulator, court or other relevant organisation, reasonable legal costs relating to the removal or deletion of any civil judgment and/or criminal conviction incorrectly obtained against the policy holder directly or indirectly as a result of the ID theft, to challenge incorrect information in a credit report following ID theft and to defend any legal matter resulting either directly or indirectly as a result of the ID theft.
